The Student Wellbeing Program provides students with a range of well-being and support services. The College Wellbeing Team has two Student Support Officers trained in social services work and have experience supporting young people and their families. Our wellbeing program includes tailored support for our First Nations and female student cohorts. Our Student Support Officers can assist students and parents in gaining access to various services in the community and provide advocacy where appropriate.   Through the program, our students and their parents can access services such as counselling and advice on legal matters, accommodations support, Centrelink payments support, financial guidance and many others.

Our Student Wellbeing Team has established a network of services, such as Headspace Maitland, Samaritans Youth Accommodation, Catholic Care, Youth off the Streets, Hunter Community Legal Centre, and many others, that can offer professional guidance and support.

Student Support Officers can be contacted at the College by calling 49322400

LEARNING SUPPORT

Our Learning Support Teacher works with students who require additional support to achieve successful outcomes.

The Learning Support Teacher works with the student and their family to identify supports that the College can provide to students. Examples of support include

  • additional time for exams and assessments

  • small group exam supervision

  • in-class and tutorial support

  • reader or writer

  • enlarging or printing reading material on coloured paper

  •  use of technology such as voice recognition and reading pens

  • software screen reading

  • use of ramps and height adjustment desks

The Learning Support Teacher helps to identify barriers to successful learning and develops a plan to help the student achieve their learning goals.  The Learning Support Teacher works with other College teachers to support the student during class time and workshops.

The College supports students with disabilities who study HSC and VET courses through its Student Disability and Inclusiveness Policy. We may ask you to provide supporting documentation from your current doctor/medical specialist to access disability support services at the College. If you require learning support, the College will assess your support needs and will make provision through a study program, reasonable adjustment to assessment, and special equipment or workplace arrangements.

Additional literacy and numeracy support is available by contacting our English and Maths teachers.
